Hurricane Season in the Caribbean starts June 1st and ends November 30th.
Saint Theresa has a disaster plan should severe weather occur.
This plan is
available for all STMU students. The section on current tropical storm/hurricane
states will keep you updated on the status of the school should a hurricane occur
during this time.

What is a Hurricane?
A hurricane is a circular storm which rotates counter-clockwise with winds over
74 miles per hour. Tidal waves and tornadoes can be associated with hurricanes.
These storms are common in the Atlantic Ocean during the summer months. Hurricanes
are also known as Typhoons (Western Pacific) and Cyclones (Indian Ocean).
What is a Tropical Storm?
A tropical storm is a storm with distinct rotation and winds ranging from
30 to 73 miles per hour.
These storms can develop into hurricanes.
