St. Kitts and Nevis St. Kitts and Nevis are two islands, and two versions of paradise. A two mile straight, six miles by air or a 45 minute ferry boat separates the islands. St. Kitts, the larger island, has the more varied terrain: volcanic peaks covered with lush green forests, sugar cane plantations and the southeast peninsula with its salt ponds which is ringed with coves black, mink-brown and white sand. Nevis, with its head in the clouds, is distinguished by its large volcanic central peak surrounded by green hills with tropical gardens, secluded lodges, and picturesque manor houses, all edged with lovely beaches.
